🎮 Modern Warfare III: Zombies Kill Race Tournament Rules

Background

A while back I put together some rules for a PvE style kill race in the open world mode of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III's zombies. The idea is to allow players in a large community with drastically different skill levels to compete asynchronously. Gun skill is a factor, but so is strategy and familiarity with the mode. It was a fun exercise and I hope more people have the chance to give it a try.

Soldiers take refuge from zombies in a broken building in Call of Duty

Intro

Modern Warfare III Zombies is a vertical extraction format PvE multi squad experience, placing a team of up to three operators in the war torn and undead infested country of Urzikstan. Stomp as many undead as possible within the time limit to score points for your team. Boot up your stream, throw on some music, and get twisted farming hordes of undead bots in the most vibey competitive experience possible.

Standard Rules

The following rules are in place for all variants.

Equipment

  • PC, PS5, XBOX Series S or X are permitted - Cross Play Matches are possible

  • Input Devices: Keyboard and Mouse and Controllers are permitted

  • Players may not use a Turbo controller or a Button Macro controller

    • Turbo controllers allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times.

    • Button Macro controllers allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons.

    • At administrations discretion the game is subject to being replayed with the suspected player being required to record their activity.

Loadout

Players may bring in a loadout that includes:

  • Any field upgrade, lethal, and tactical

  • Any one insurance weapon or contraband gun of their choice (second armament slot should be empty)

  • Backpack/rucksack, plate carrier, one skill streak, and self revive kit in the default slots for their operator

  • All rucksack slots should remain empty! NO perks, aether tool rarity upgrades, or pack-a-punch crystals can be brought into the map. Players must find weapon upgrades during each round

Scoring

  • Zombie Kills: 1 Point

  • Mercenary Kills: 2 Point

  • Successful Extraction: 250 Points

Match Conclusion

The match is concluded when all players are dead or have exfiltrated.

Player Death Revives

While a single player is alive (or downed with self revive - potential to regain life), any full dead team member who is revived will be allowed to continue the match. This includes revives by other teams of operators, whether competing in the tournament or randomly matchmade squads). To be clear, if all three players are full dead then the match ends immediately and third party intervention is not valid, but if a single competitor is standing they may use the in-game match chat or proximity comms to plead for third party assistance.

Exfiltration

If an operator calls the extraction helicopter, they must board it or wait for another team member to call the helicopter. Each operator may only call the extract chopper once. Griefing by calling the extraction helicopter repeatedly will result in an automatic forfeit.

Host

Teams will take turns hosting matches in most formats. In odd man tournaments, the odd man will not host. In 1v1v1 formats, the hosts will be chosen in the order of player check-in. Teams may elect to not swap hosts upon mutual agreement.

Variants

The following common variants may be considered depending on the number of teams involved. All variants other than open play will involve bracket play and multiple rounds.

1v1v1 Kill Race

Operators compete for the highest score over two matches with the highest scoring operator winning and progressing to future rounds. Operators may choose to stay together or play separately on the map and may extract or choose not to extract separately. Odd Man Out

In this variant, paired teams of three drop into the warzone in a head to head kill race format. Each team swaps one member with the other team to play the map. The odd man out in each squad can steal kills, items, or vehicle driver positions but may not otherwise interfere with the opposing duo. Both teams will play the same number of drops as specified by the tournament organizer. Operators are not required to extract together.

Open Play (1,2, or 3 Player Teams)

Teams of one, two, or three players compete for the highest score over a specified number of games or time period

Marathon / Spartan Run

In this individual variant, operators must rush to a specified location within the Tier 3 island zone. The player who submits the fastest time from Insertion to the specified location wins. Operators must stream their entire run and submit an unedited clip of the run. Operator must be alive and not downed when entering the specified finish area.

  • Vehicles are not allowed

  • Self Revives are not allowed

  • Distraction tactical equipment are not allowed (Kazmir, Monkey Bomb, Decoy)

  • Gliding into a higher zone is not allowed (you may not glide from Tier 1 into Tier 2/3 or Tier 2 to Tier 3)

Optional Rules

  • Final Countdown - Teams must use the final extraction location after the others have timed out

  • Max Max - Teams must deploy to the warzone without any weapons, tacticals, or lethals, only field upgrades and vehicle kills are permitted

  • Naked and Afraid - Operators may not bring in any weapons and must find guns during the map

  • Ninja Turtles - Teams may only use melee weapons and throwables, no guns

  • Sticks and Stones - Crossbow, throwing knife/axe, and melee only. No Field upgrades, killstreaks, or other equipment.

Administration & Operations

Reporting & Score Submission

  • Teams should submit the results of each match within 10 minutes of each round’s conclusion.

  • Evidence should be a screenshot from each player of their final scorecard, preferably with a timestamp as well as a screenshot of the team summary.

🥃Review 92: 1.75L Costco's Kirkland Kentucky Bourbon 2026

Costco has historically worked with Barton 1792 for it's bourbon line, putting out a small batch , bottled-in-bond , and single barrel edition in liter bottles in waves over the last few years. This new 1.75L edition debuted in Spring of 2026 and mysteriously lacks a named distiller. The label proudly states that it was distilled and aged in Bardstown, Kentucky before being bottled in Columbia, Tennessee by DC Flynt   MY Domaines & Estates (never heard of them). Flynt appear to be more wine focused and have led a number of wine bottlings for Costco historically in addition to some Gins. Distilleries at scale in Bardstown include Jim Beam, Barton 1792, Heaven Hill (though primary production is at Bernheim in Louisville), Lux Row, Willet, and Bardstown Bourbon Company. I doubt it is Barton 1792 since they proudly label their existing collaboration and I suspect it may be a producer without a 1.75L bottling line (would justify the move better than just adding logistics for ...

☕ All Java Monster Flavors Tasted & Ranked

As a habitual caffeine abuser, I have a soft spot for Monster, both for their expansive lineup of flavors as well as their support for Sports and E-sports. Coffee is my standard caffeination vector, so the Java Monster suite of products is the perfect mix of bean flavor and energy boost. In this post, I'll provide my personal rankings and rationale for what is a very strong lineup.  Note that I have not been compensated in any way for this write-up... I just like them. Currently,  Monster Energy 's Java Monster lineup has five available flavors: Mean Bean - Vanilla Irish Crème Loca Mocha - Chocolate Salted Caramel Café Latte There are two "triple shot" versions of the Vanilla and Mocha which contain 300mg of caffeine though their flavors are very similar to the base versions above. At this point, we should also take a moment of silence for the two cold brew flavors, sweet black and nitro latte. The nitro latte was a personal favorite and I quite liked the sweet black,...

🎮🥃 Call of Duty Zombies: Perk-a-Cola Cocktail Recipes

With yet another Call of Duty release on the horizon, we have assembled a collection of Perk-a-Cola themed cocktail recipes to help you get your zombies gaming session kicked off in just the right way. Be sure to check out our  Zombies Drinking Game Rules  as these recipes make for a great companion. Recipe Overview In general, these recipes attempt to mimic the color and feel of each perk-a-cola. Dark liquors can be swapped interchangeably to your liking and you can substitute vodka or light rum for gin if needed. To lower the calories, you can use sparkling water of a complementary flavor. Alternatively, you could use hard seltzer to up the alcohol content. Use ice aggressively to fill up to 12oz. To little ice and it will melt faster and provide too much dilution while cooling the drink. All of these can be scaled to make a pitcher, just stir extra where it says to shake. Always drink responsibly.  1. Jugger-Nog Boost your health pool with a bracing and creamy cocktail...

🎮Call of Duty Zombies: The Drinking Game - Rules

Since its introduction in Call of Duty: World at War , Call of Duty Zombies has been a PvE staple for gamers everywhere and has appeared in many subsequent titles. In this post, we'll explore rules for turning a game of round-based zombies into a lovely drinking session. As with all drinking games, set limits before you begin and be sure to conduct yourself both legally and responsibly.  Preparation To play the game, you'll need the following in addition to an internet connection, gaming device, and Call of Duty: A Party Sipper of your Choice - I recommend something relatively low ABV. We balanced the rules for a player of moderate ability and a sipper of 4-8% alcohol. Light beer is my go-to here since it has enough lovely hydrating waters to help stave off some small sadness.  A Couple of Shots - I would pre-pour a couple of shots to have on hand. Again, lower end of ABV which for shots likely means 80 proof. Kirkland Canadian Whiskey, Tito's Vodka, or Lunazul Tequila wo...

🔌Review - Costco's Kirkland Sparkling Energy Drink - Orange

Released earlier this year in 2026, the Kirkland Sparkling Energy Drink lineup features three flavors: Orange, Tropical, and Peach. The style, ingredients, and caffeine content seem to be talking aim directly at recent CPG success, Celsius Energy. It echoes that brands "clean" veneer with no high fructose corn syrup, GMO ingredients, or artificial colorings.  🛒 Price:  $16.99/24 ~$.7/each - Costco. Celsius is normally around $20/12 without sales, so figure around 95 cents savings per can vs. full sticker which is around 58% savings. Celsius is showing up frequently on sale around $15 now but that's still not nearly enough to reach parity.  ✨Calories:  10 ,  12oz. can 🍵 Caffeine:  200mg, around a third more than a cup of coffee, more than Monster and Red Bull - similar to Celsius. 👅 Flavor:  Very effervescent, I get tons of bubbles - close to Red Bull and more than Celsius. It does have a thinner mouthfeel vs Monster Ultra and Red Bull on balance whi...
