Released earlier this year in 2026, the Kirkland Sparkling Energy Drink lineup features three flavors: Orange, Tropical, and Peach. The style, ingredients, and caffeine content seem to be talking aim directly at recent CPG success, Celsius Energy. It echoes that brands "clean" veneer with no high fructose corn syrup, GMO ingredients, or artificial colorings.
🛒Price: $16.99/12 ~$1.42/each - Costco. Celsius is normally around $20 without sales, so figure around 25 cents savings per can vs. full sticker which is around 15% savings. I'm seeing Celsius sales prices that match or are cheaper than the Kirkland pricing which does make me wonder a bit about the relative value of going generic.
✨Calories: 10, 12oz. can
🍵Caffeine: 200mg, around a third more than a cup of coffee, more than Monster and Red Bull - similar to Celsius.
👅Flavor: Very effervescent, I get tons of bubbles - close to Red Bull and more than Celsius. It does have a thinner mouthfeel vs Monster Ultra and Red Bull on balance which results in what may be more "refreshing" on a hot day but less of an indulgent experience. The orange flavor does taste very natural, like a diluted OJ, maybe week Tang or Sunny D. It's not terribly sweet and definitely skews tart. There is the smallest bit of Sucralose aftertaste but it is mostly masked by the Orange. The overall experience is definitely closer to that of a seltzer water than of most energy drinks.
🧪Ingredients: Fairly standard other than the call-outs for non-GMO, No Artificial Dyes, and No High Fructose Corn Syrup. They do have a disclaimer that says to not drink more than two per day which does align with FDA guidelines for adult caffeine consumption.
- Sweetener: Sucralose
- Energy Blend: Caffeine (200mg), Green Tea Extract, Guarana Seed Extract, Glucuronolactone, and Taurine
- Vitamins: 250% DV of Vitamin B12, 120% DV of B6, 130% DV of Niacin, and 200% DV Pantothenic Acid, plus Vitamin C (70% DV). It also contains Chromium (140% DV), Biotin 1000%
🏆Rating: 2.25 - A Fine Line - It's just okay in my mind. I think they may have gone too far with the bubbles, and I could use a little bit more flavor intensity. For the smallish current savings at a per can level, pack vs. pack, I'm not sold on this flavor versus the orange from the name brand. That being said, if Costco runs some promos it won't take much more than a few dollars per pack to make this a clear value win. Kirkland Sparkling Energy Drink Orange is a workable first foray into energy drinks for the warehouse giant; we'll see what the future brings.
